Angel Tattoos

Angel tattoos are popular tattoos for females and usually take on the appearance of the stereotypical CHERUBS sitting on a cloud or as an avenging angel.

Angels are spiritual beings that are believed to be much more powerful than humans. They have been thought of as creations of a separate order from human beings and sometimes as the spirits of highly evolved humans.
The actual word angel is possibly derived from a Greek word 'angeloi' or 'messenger'. Throughout biblical times it was generally believed that the will of God or 'God's Work' was carried out by angels.

Angels are the guardians of souls and are divine beings but have been shown to be fallible and prone to sin, particularly pride. One of the best known examples of a 'fallen angel' is Satan.
The meaning of angels and their appearance have varied throughout history. Artists have depicted angels as winged creatures, usually beautiful figures suffused in light, wearing white robes, floating on a cloud, sometimes in human form or as an angelic 'symphony from the heavens'.

n Catholicism guardian angels are believed to be intelligent spiritual creatures assigned to care for and protect every person on earth. Each person has a guardian angel assigned to them. These angels are to assist the person in attaining his eternal salvation.
Also, these angels protect groups of persons and nations. Others refer to these guardian angels as guiding spirits who control or guide and particularly help in personal safety.

Japanese Kanji Tattoos

Japanese inspired kanji tattoos are one of the most popular styles of tattoos according to a recent tattoo survey. Most people who think about getting a kanji tattoo are under the mistaken belief that you can translate Japanese symbols directly from English into kanji. This lack of awareness hasn't stopped an increasing number of people from getting Japanese characters tattooed onto their bodies and sometimes regretting it after they discover that their kanji doesn't mean what they thought it did.

Most Japanese tattoos found on tattoo shop walls - and on most people's skin - are printed in a bland, everyday variety of type. The written Japanese and Chinese languages are composed not of individual letters but of ideographs or pictographs, which represent an idea or thing. Some characters consist of more than 30 strokes.

The two languages share some of the same pictographs, for instance those meaning beauty, love, woman, strength and happiness. Such concepts are the most commonly requested. Things borrowed from other cultures can come to have a deeper, more personal meaning. The visual force of the Chinese and Japanese characters is quite dramatic and has a beauty of its own.
In business since 1949, tattoo artist Lyle Tuttle counts Janis Joplin, Peter Fonda, Joan Baez and "all the members of the Allman Brothers" among his customers. He owned the San Francisco Tattoo Museum until the 1989 earthquake destroyed his building.
Famous tattoo artist Lyle Tuttle speaking about traditional Japanese kanji tattoos, which he says are elaborate, multi-coloured pictures that tell a story and can cover a person's body turns away requests to write specific things in kanji. Tuttle instead suggests customers talk to native speakers before getting a kanji done.
The popularity of kanjis in the West hasn't impressed many of those who speak or read Japanese or Chinese fluently. Kanjis may look cool to non Japanese or Chinese speakers but don't always make sense to native speakers. A true Japanese tattoo has meaning.
Kanjis are NOT really a traditional Japanese tattoo BUT more a style of tattoo. If you are getting a kanji be sure that what you are getting done is something that means a lot to you and is translated correctly.
Don't make the embarrassing mistake thousands of others have!

Tattoo Girls Dished Up

Tattoos are like sex. They are being used to market everything from designer label clothing, fragrances and universities. Ink has become the new black. Long before Madison Avenue jumped on the bandwagon and made the whole thing mainstream these pretty girls with tattoos were doing it for themselves and slinging pretty ink all over their bodies.

We have reviewed of some of the hottest alt and inked girly sites out there with some of sexiest tattooed girls around. You won't find many perfect 10 sized models with mommy hair and a prissy style. These chicks go against the whole beauty industry stereotype of what attractive should be and speak the language and style of a whole sub-culture.

Small Female Tattoos

Many women are physically smaller and more delicately built than men and in general, we consider smaller, more delicate things more feminine. That’s why tattoos for women are generally smaller and prettier than male tattoos.
Feminine tattoos
Woman with a full sleeve tattoo
It is rare, though not unheard of, for a woman to have a full sleeve tattoo that covers much of her arm., but usually feminine tattoos are more likely to be isolated in one or two areas of the body – as accent pieces, so to speak.
Women’s tattoo designs are also less heavy, less aggressivelooking compared to men's tattoos. They tend to have thinner lines, though this is, of course, a generalization rather than a rule.

Female Tattoos

Female tattoos, ladies tattoos or girly tattoos – in other words tattoos that are feminine in design, and therefore favored by women or girls – are becoming more and more common.
For the first fifty or sixty years after tattooing became commonplace and even mainstream in modern society, few women got tattoos– in fact, those that did were the exception and usually a touch eccentric or rebellious.
All that changed about twenty years ago when tattooing became more socially acceptable, largely due to the many celebrities who publicly sported tattoos. Some of these were women, and so the female tattoo became more common and acceptable. Nowadays most people find female tattoos sexy and attractive, they certainly aren't offensive anymore.

That having been said it’s still true that more men than women get tattoos and it’s even true that there is a little element of social rebellion inherent in a woman’s decision to get a tattoo, although this is less and less the case, tattoos are more like a fashion itemthese days.
However, female ink is no longer shocking, and we no longer jump to conclusions about a woman’s moral character based on whether or not she has a few tattoos!

Body Painting Women

rederick Leighton born in 1830 was a British painter. His paintings covered variety of subject ranging from depiction of historical events to biblical mythology. He painted many frames that could be stamped as classical paintings, too. Leighton had a big group of followers. Queen Victoria was among those who praised and purchased his paintings. The painting titled as Icarus and Daedalus had been one of the most famous artworks done by him. It is based on the mythological story of Daedalus.
Frederick had master the art of figurative painting. The figurative painting as a genre and the figurative painters as a class of artists have never been sailing easily. They faced a lot at the hands of religious heads, the rulers, general public, and some sections of art-lovers, too. But the genre has not only survived; it has flourished. And the artist like Frederick Leighton had made it so thriving along with others; as his paintings revealed the true spirit of Victorian period. He took pride in painting the events of ancient Greece and Rome.
Frederick would also choose subject that could bear the sensual appeal to the eyes of viewers. Such variety of subject has mad his style of painting so simple. One of his paintings titled as Actaea depicted the cloth-less woman, a nymph. In this painting the woman is reclining on seashore. In Greek mythology, the nymphs are the female spirits. These nymphs have remained subject of many painters who desired to paint sensual skin. In such paintings the artists also want showing the power of female figure putting it before the eyes of viewer.
Figurative painting reflects deep understanding of the artist doing it, as it is depiction of the anatomy of human body. In addition to that an artist tries to show the emotions through such paintings, as it could reveal the psyche of the person painted or portrayed, too. The master artists do so in the gentlest manner possible, as figurative painting would also require recreations of the gestures of the model. By doing so, a painter like Frederick Leighton would forge his reputation as an artist.
Frederick was master in depiction such sensual gestures of women without clothes in his paintings. The painting of a female without clothes is always subjected to personal interpretation of a painter, so far as her depicted form is concerned. Even the postures of female models tell inherent tales. Even the moods revealed by the postures and gestures of bare-body female models depicted in a painting tend to be an exclusive interpretation of an artist.

Art Body Painting

Since the beginning of time, humans have always had the desire to create art. Through this desire body painting was born, making the human body the first canvass. The history of this craft stretches so far back that historians consider it to be the earliest form of art. Compared to other types of body art like tattoos or piercing, this is impermanent. It lasts only for a few hours at most.
During the ancient times, tribes would often use this during celebrations and important ceremonies. Each color had its own corresponding meaning. Chieftains and warriors commonly had their own styles to indicate their status in the tribe. Around the 12th century, a new kind of body painting known as the Mehendi became popular. The Mehendi is an extremely old ritual that originated from Egypt. It is the art of using henna to paint the body. This type of dye usually lasts a little longer, about a 1-2 weeks before fading.  Natives of South America also had their own methods of ornamenting their bodies. They would use wet charcoal also known as huito. Like henna, huito is also semi-permanent lasting for a few weeks.
In today’s modern era, this has become a way of self-expression. This has been spurred on by the liberality of modern society. If before nudity was deemed by society as inappropriate and improper, now it is something to be flaunted. In the guise of self-expression and the practice of human freedom, this has become a means of grabbing the public’s attention. This is especially effective during protests and rallies. Instead of bringing placards and sign boards, the protesters would instead paint on themselves.
The art of body painting can morph a human being into a beautiful work of art. It can make a statement that words alone cannot express, create a more appealing presentation, and add meaning and significance to an important occasion. It is used not only for the living, but also to preserve the dead. Truly it has attained world wide significance that will last till the end of time.
