Art has no plan...

The Twins - mixed media on 8.5x11 canvas

This was absolutely, 100% not what I had planned on creating. In its humble beginning it was a muddy mess that I wasn't sure could be revived. Alas, a little paint here, a little texture there, some random images that came out of nowhere, and viola! The asylum twins emerged from their cell.

It is such a common occurrence that whatever I plan on making never happens. I walk down my path of visions only to end up somewhere completely different. It's not such a bad thing, I suppose. I meet some very interesting characters.

A new piece I call Baroque 'n Roll

Acrylic paint, crown stamp, image colored with watercolor pencils

It seems to me that my artwork can get a bit messy. Especially this one...

but I'm okay with it because I'm experimenting, and it's good for me to get my hands dirty. Put away all the organized, prim and proper way of doing things. That's the method I usually use - always carefully planning the next step. Well, I didn't plan anything out on this particular piece. I just kind of threw it together and viola! I like letting the paint lead me ;)

Just us chickens (the dog and me)

I wasn't too excited about the Memorial Day weekend on Friday because the beau left to New Mexico for a week, but the first day is always the hardest. I always settle into being alone after the first day, and this weekend has been rather delightful!

I finished three of the Paris in Springtime tags and I'm rather proud of them! It's the first time I've made tags and they're addictive.

I did some journaling and reading on the balcony on Saturday. I bought C'est La Vie. A lovely book about the French life from an American's point of view.

Today I made cinnamon rolls and drank raspberry tea.

Other wonderful things~
* I also bought Paris When it Sizzles. Have you noticed that in two of Audrey Hepburn's movies she falls in love with a writer?
*Painted my nails "pure ice peony"
*Had a big cup of white chocolate mocha and a white chocolate chunk macadamia cookie
*I eat way too many sweets :)
*Watched Marie Antoinette. Only my second time to see it. Such a drool worthy film.

The days have been filled with warm winds and sunshine putting freckles on my arms.

And there's another day left!

something new...

I've never been very good at painting or drawing (I can doodle at best), but I decided I'd try my hand at some collage on canvas. Here is my first creation...

I painted the background with acrylic paints, used various paper and magazine scrap and a rubber stamp. The face and pink border collage images are from www.altered-diva.com. I simply *adore* her work!

So yes, this is my new cup of tea :)
