girls + glasses = ♥

I don't wear "real" glasses, but I love the plastic readers as an accessory.

Dresses to dream about...

Aren't these dresses dreamy? Perhaps it's the first time in my life when I want to wear a white dress instead of a black one. I especially love the soft pink one on the far left, but it's no longer available. I've been dress hunting for days, but haven't been able to find one that steals my heart. And of course now that I don't want a black dress, that's all I see. Where are you my shimmery winter white love dress? It also seems that there is no such thing as a pair of glittery white tights, unless you're 5 and in a ballet recital. I found all kinds of other glittery tights -grey, black, purple. But no white.

You see, I'm going to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra Christmas concert in three weeks and I want to have the perfect outfit. It's not often that I get to glam it up for the holidays, so I want to have something really fun and whimsical this year. Not that icky red plaid dress I wore to the Nutcracker two years ago. It's not really icky, but I don't want to wear it.

So, that is the dilemma.

What Makes a Cassandra?

When my lovely ballet instructor over at A Little Tea or Something wrote a post about her signature style, I was inspired to contemplate my own. I ended up making about 5 outfits that all clashed with each other and begged the question...which one *am* I??? And that led to...*who* am I? That is a complicated question for most, I think, as we are all made up of little bits of this and that. So, in the end I decided to put together a collage of all the things that describe me. And let me tell you, if I could get away with wearing that outfit on an everyday basis, I totally would :D

Psst...No. I never grew up.

Happy Friday

I have been lusting for one of these neckwarmers for quite some time now and finally bought this one from HiJinx on Etsy yesterday. It is kind of like a modern ruff, no? Or perhaps more Victorian. Either way, I'm in love! Sometimes I wish I could make my own things like this, but that would involve sewing/crocheting and I have not the patience for that sort of learning. I've never even sewn my own pointe shoe ribbons! *gasp* The last time I tried was during a class rehearsal. The ribbons on my one of my shoes popped off and I had no choice but to try my hand at sewing them back on. I did get them sewn back on, but they popped back off within ten minutes of dancing. For the rest of the season my ribbons were held together with a safety pin. Yikes. I know.

In other news...Halloween is a week away and I'm super excited about my costume. Excited and a bit nervous, as it could result in a totally embarassing situation. Womens' costumes these days are nothing short of a stripper's uniform. Mine is one of the less revealing and that's not saying much. Why, even my sister questioned me after I described my outfit. "How is that sexy?" What are we teaching these kids? But I will have to be careful of my movements and make sure everything stays in place. I'm taking extra steps to make sure of this. I'm not sharing what I'm going to dress as yet! I'll post pictures post-Halloween.

Anyone else dressing up? Let me know!

ding, ding, ding...

I've hit the jackpot! For all of you who were bummed about Angie Hearts closing shop, I did a little research and found that there are plenty more Japanese inspired fashion boutiques out there! Here are a few of my favorites:

Yes Style
Style with Passionz
Lolita Kisama
Asia Jam
Trendy Outfitters

Ebay shops:
DaDivaQueen
Fashion Fairyland
Rabbit's Japan Vintage Fashion Shop

I decided to purchase something from Angie Hearts before she closes for good. Bought this dress today

Aaaaand this ruffled slip from Rabbit's Japan Vintage. I can't believe we haven't caught on to this trend yet - layering the ruffled slips underneath...just about anything! I love it :)

All Googly Eyed

I'm pretty sure that everything on this website was made *exclusively* for me. Every stitch has my name on it. It's just too bad I can't purchase everything at once and have the most amazing closet full of clothes!

This looks enticing...

And wouldn't this make the cutest winter dress??

I lovelovelove babydoll dresses and Victorian ruffles and high neck collars. Oh look, something with all three!

I also nearly dropped dead when I saw these on this website. Unfortunately, they're out of stock, but when they restock, I'm all over that.

And I *know* I just bought shoes, but I can't stop thinking about these...

I'm actively bidding on this little number. I've only used Ebay once and it was a "buy now" purchase, but this is worth it. I think this just might be the perfect dress.

And now a piccie of my most recent purchases--my lovely "hooker" shoes and stripey leg warmers! Noooo...I don't wear them out in public. Not together at least *ahem*

*UPDATE*
The first boutique I spoke of is closing. Just my luck :(

When my heart skips a beat...

When it comes to shopping, my motto is, "If it doesn't make your heart skip a beat, don't buy it." If I look at a top or a pair of shoes and think, I like this, I don't buy it. If I look at a top or a pair of shoes and think, holy cow, I must have this!!! and my spirit sort of jumps out of my body, I buy it. If I buy something I feel half-hearted about or if I buy something I like, but it doesn't scream at me, there's a 90% chance I'll be bored with it a week later.

I'm super excited about my new finds! I went on a virtual shopping trip yesterday in search of the next heart stopping apparel.

First of all, I've been wanting a simple, black choker for quite some time. Not too thick, so as not to give me a stumpy neck. I love chokers! They're the only type of jewelry I'll wear for great spans of time. Strangely enough, I've had the same blue and black beaded choker since I was a teenager. The other two beautiful Gothic style chokers I once had broke long ago and I've never purchased anything since. Until yesterday...I found this black velvet choker on Etsy. Yes, I could probably make the same thing for cheap, but I have no patience for such things.

Another shopping characteristic I possess is that I always have great intentions to buy colorful clothes. I remind myself that I would like to incorporate more pink and violet into my wardrobe. Pink because it contrasts so superbly with black hair and violet because it's one of my favorite colors. But the inevitable always happens - I buy something in black. I don't do it because it's safe or because it goes with everything (although it does!), but because I truly love black. There could be a room full of the most vibrant colored clothes and my eyes would immediately zone in on the black piece. It's such a striking and dramatic color! Needless to say, I couldn't help myself when I saw this blouse. And is that not the most exquisite embroidered design on the back?!

And last, but not least, HOW could I pass up these (say it slowly now) patent-leather, purple, platform pumps? Yes, I will be almost six feet tall, but has that ever stopped me before?
Thank you to everyone who sent me birthday money so I can feed my fashion addiction :)
